Work-based Learning

Harrison has recently implemented a work-based learning (WBL) program. WBL is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand, high-skill careers in Tennessee. From engineering to ready-mix, high school juniors and seniors can work at Harrison, learn valuable work-place skills, AND receive high school credit. Contact your school’s administration for more information.

Trainee Program

Harrison offers a Construction Management Trainee Program in both Tennessee and North Carolina for college students or recent college grads with a Civil and/or Construction Management Engineering major. Click here for more information.

Employee Testimonials

Tabitha Clay

“My name is Tabitha Clay, and I started working for Harrison’s in May of 2015. I was hired as a flagger and I was determined to move up in the company and not be a flagger permanently. So with hard work and proving to the company that I was able and willing, I went and got my CDL. After that, I was put in the position to drive a distributor, and also I was given the opportunity to be a roller operator when needed. I have to say that I work for a fantastic company that has given me more opportunities to grow within the company and within myself. If you are willing to learn and willing to put forth the effort, then you can certainly advance with Harrison’s.”

Devin Ramsey

“I started working for Harrison in 2013 doing traffic control for the milling crew, I use to watch my boss running the electrics on the milling machine and pretty soon I learned how it worked, and how to do it. He gave me the opportunity to do it, and I learned them rather quickly. Eventually over time I learned how to run everything on the crew. I always asked questions and learned all I could. When the time came that they needed a milling foreman It just fell in to my lap because of all the questions I had asked, and because I learned all I could. Johnny Nicely (superintendent) and Cody Nix (project manager) helped me a lot along the way. That’s how I got where I am today.”
